Movie Review:  La La Land

The holiday season movie release of “La La Land” starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone was quite a different movie. Different doesn’t mean bad.  It was very much worth seeing but nothing you would expect.  Gosling plays Sebastian who is chasing his dream of reviving Jazz and opening his own club.  He has chance meetings with Mia who is pursuing her acting dreams.  They both encourage each others’ dreams but their journeys reach an interesting point.

I have to be honest and tell you that it isn’t like any movie you have seen.

It’s kind of a musical.  Actually I was surprised by Gosling’s dancing.

A love story.  Yes.

Comedy.  Yes

Dramatic.  Definitely.

Just remember not to judge the movie and checkout on the opening scene.  I was getting into daydream mode and wondering why I had done this but it did get better and more interesting.

The ending wasn’t what I expected either and neither will you.  It wasn’t sad but something that leaves with you to think about when you leave the theatre.

It is worth watching.
