Last night, Crystal and I watched the “musical/wedding” episode of our favorite television show “Once Upon A Time”. The show has been special to us since it debuted on the day we were married. It appears that the show will end after this season. During last night’s episode, we both looked at each other and said “Really? She’s going to fight the Black Fairy singing?”
Needless to say, we weren’t impressed. The writers should be the ones written off the show. I have felt that way this entire sixth season. The stories have been horrible.
Now my fear is that the ending will leave me in the same dilemma as I felt with the end of “Lost”. Yes, I watched that one too and every show until the bitter, ridiculous end and I am still not completely sure how to explain the ending on that show except for some twisted version of purgatory.
Leading up to last night’s episode of Once Upon A Time, there was the much-anticipated wedding between Hook and Emma. It was in the last 10 minutes. Most of the show was with the characters under a curse which made them sing. I’m still cringing just thinking about it. I am left wondering if I am under some kind of curse when I see people raving about the show and that last night’s episode was the best one ever.
Most sources say that the writers have written the season finale with thoughts that it could be the series finale. Oh no, here we go again. I’m already having flashbacks when Bobby Ewing had dreamed everything that happened when he supposedly died. In my opinion the show should end with the typical “…and they lived happily ever after”.
It appears that many times the writers of these shows try to be so shocking and outrageous that they write themselves into a box. They fail to realize that most viewers aren’t stupid. You don’t have to rip out someone’s heart and burst into song to know that.
I hate to see this show to come to an end but I hope they do it right and not try to piece together another season when many of the main characters have decided not to renew their contracts with the show.
The show’s main character, Emma Swann (Jennifer Morrison) has been reported today that she has not renewed her contract and will not be returning. In her Instagram post she said: “As I reached the end of my six year contract on Once Upon A Time, I was faced with a significant decision. ABC, Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz very generously invited me to continue as a series regular. After very careful consideration, I have decided that creatively and personally, it is time for me to move on.”
Horowitz was also a writer on Lost.
Other characters have also been rumored that they will not be returning to the show.
Maybe it’s time to rip out the heart and end it now. All TV shows come with a price dearie.
