American Football Champions Crowned in Hungary, Norway, Czech and France

Budapest Wolves 34, Miskolc Steelers 30

The top-seed Budapest Wolves scored with less than five minutes left when Wolves’ QB Mark Benciscs found Adam Elek who broke the plane of the goal line as he stretched the ball across for the game winning score.  The Steelers drove down the field with a chance to score but Budapest defender Gergely Homoki snagged a deflected ball and held on to give the Wolves the Hungarian Football League title.

Oslo Vikings 65, Asane Seahawks 0

The Oslo Vikings captured their third consecutive Norwegian title and 12th overall in trouncing the Åsane Seahawks 65-0 at Bislett Stadium in Oslo, Norway and in front of a national TV audience in Norway. The Vikings finished the year with a 7-1 record and with the lopsided win exacted terrible revenge on the only team to have beaten them this year. The Seahawks had defeated Oslo 31-28 in the second regular season game of 2018. Quarterback Robert Mehmet Sezer was named game MVP after throwing three touchdown passes and rushing for another in the lopsided win. Wide receivers Pål Wulff, Martin Ofoghi and Andre Wang all caught touchdown passes while Vegard Tysse, Lorenzo Proctor and Jesper Jørgensen added rushing touchdowns. Bror Jahr scored on a 15 yard fumble return while Magnus Meyer kicked two field goals. Defensively, Oslo was superb allowing the Seahawks only three first downs all game. With the win, Oslo qualifies for play in the Northern European Football League in 2019.

Prague Black Panthers 30, Ostrava Steelers 7

The Prague Black Panthers soundly defeated the Ostrava Steelers 30-7 to capture Czech Bowl XXV, to win their sixth straight Czech league title and eighth overall. Behind a two-touchdown performance by game MVP, running back William Young, the Black Panthers took a 16-7 halftime lead and then added two fourth quarter scores to win going away. Quarterback Jan Dundáček also scored two touchdowns while Marek Hruboň kicked four extra points and the defense forced a safety. This was the second year in a row that Prague has beaten the Steelers in the Czech title game. They downed Ostrava 28-0 to win the 2017 championship game. For Black Panthers head coach Daniel levy, this marks his second national title in the space of a year. He won the Brazilian championship in 2017 guiding the Belo Horizonte Sada Cruzeiro to the title.

La Courneuve Flash 20, Thonon Black Panthers 14

The La Courneuve Flash defended their FFFA – Fédération Française de Football Américain title – Casque de Diamant – a week ago and won their 11th overall by defeating the Thonon Black Panthers 20-14 in a hard fought battle. The Flash took a 13-0 halftime lead and held on for the win. Game MVP Flash quarterback Paul Durand threw a touchdown pass to Sofiane Mahmoudi while running backs  Nicolas Khandar and Jason Aguemon each scored touchdowns on the ground.
